Florist Holland to take over Gerbera activities of Preesman |
DE KWAKEL, the Netherlands, May 25, 2012: Gerbera breeder and propagator Florist Holland B.V., a division of the Royal Hilverda Group, today announced it will take over all Gerbera activities of Preesman Plants BV. The acquisition, effective from June 15, 2012, is set to strengthen Florist’s position in the international Gerbera market.
Florist Holland focuses on specialisation within Gerbera genetics, Preesman doesn’t consider this its core business any longer. The continuation of the activities fits within the corporate strategy of Florist Holland, focusing on product development and international expansion as the Gerbera specialist. For the future Preesman focuses on decentralisation of breeding activities, concentration on mainly roses and further positioning of Alstroemeria en Chystanthemums.
Florist Holland continues the full range of Preesman Gerberas, next to its own broad assortment of Standard and Mini Gerberas. The current customers of both Florist and Preesman will be informed about the details of the transfer of Gerbera activities. For them, the new situation implies that production and services will start to be organised by Florist Holland as of 1 September 2012, the beginning of the new sales season. Until then, Florist Holland and Preesman will work closely together to run the transition to the new situation as smoothly as possible. Florist Holland will retain the international network of sales representatives, responsible for the sales of the Preesman range, as much as possible. Some employees who are responsible for the Gerbera breeding and production at Preesman, will be employed by Florist Holland.
